Meet the Mind behind Mastermind
Mastermind is the culmination of Elizabeth Israel’s experiences as an avid dressage equestrian coupled with her intrepid spirit, indomitable tenacity, and inspired artistic vision. Elizabeth studied geology, physics, and computer science at Cornell University. Following a successful career at a major company in the oil and gas industry, Elizabeth decided to pursue her long held ambition to forge a path as an entrepreneur in sportswear apparel design. In the midst of this transition, Elizabeth returned to Boulder, Colorado with her three young children, three horses, and two Great Danes.
After more than two years of extensively researching the ins and outs of the sports apparel manufacturing industry and supply chain; which included internships at two major fashion brands in New York and Los Angeles, Elizabeth was prepared to take the next step in her new career. Elizabeth’s initial foray into the sports-fashion world began with designing and developing a cycling apparel line featuring an innovative technology (Leather with Lycra®), for which her designs received both the International ISPO award for Innovative Design in Sports Apparel, and was featured as Mountain Bike Magazine’s Mountain Bike Short of the Year. Eventually she segued into focusing her efforts on creating unique, upscale equestrian apparel and accessories. Prior to the inception of Mastermind, Elizabeth founded the brands Latigo, Santio and Nathalie.
Mastermind is the result of Elizabeth’s in-depth research and development process and her devotion to maintaining her artistic vision; namely, to design riding apparel that is deeply rooted in the equestrian tradition, yet juxtaposed by modern touches, innovative materials, and sophistication that, combined, create an element of subtlety and surprise.
